Poem - The Raid

{0 notes}

The Raid

But the warning flare went up too late,
Across the village streets they spread,
A clamor of footfall and muffled screams
Rang through the still night air.

Armed and ruthless through the town they tore,
In a display of power and might,
Weapons bared and torches blazing,
None dared to stand in their way.

The fair citizens offered up their gold,
This all was not for money, but for show.
It was to rouse and remind of times long gone,
Those all too trusting neighbors.

A few hours at most was all it took,
The brutal display left its mark
In the minds of the survivors,
And on the once sleepy little town.

Happenings that night had served their purpose.
Planting fear in the hearts of many
Through leaving scars on land and flesh
And a community to rebuild.

The past is never entirely behind,
As the village learned from that moonlight ambush
Comfort is relative and can be fleeting,
But bitterness can last an eternity.

Random “Glee” Thought

{1 note}

Next week’s “Glee” voice-over: “First, it rained on a parade, then it rained in a plain in Spain, and finally it rained down Rachel’s face. And that’s what you missed on Glee!”

Poem - A Distant Drum Beat

{0 notes}

Late last night, I got into a roll on Twitter writing a series of haiku that could be read in the order I tweeted them to form a longer poem. It was my first “haiku chain” and I enjoyed writing it, so there may be more coming in the future ;).

A Distant Drum Beat

I hear the drums sound
They are coming, I know it
Time to take my leave.

Follow if you must
I am not responsible
For what befalls you.

Should we meet again
Somewhere in the darkest night
It shan’t be too soon.

‘Til then, I’ll stay swift
On the move with thoughts of you
Signposts pointing home.

The strong ties that bind
Shall tug if I go too far
But they will not fray.

Our wills much too tough
To let distance come between
We can’t be broken.

The drums keep nearing
When they arrive, I’ll be gone
Stay safe and stay warm.

Someday I’ll return
For now I must keep running
Hold me in your thoughts.

Someday I’ll have a Holliday tree and cover it with Tinchel and Holly Berries.

Random “Glee” Thought

{0 notes}

Tonight’s “Glee” episode was fantastic, but one thing left me thinking. How did they go on a day trip to Six Flags, when there isn’t even a Six Flags in Ohio or even close to the state in general?

*I know “Glee” is unrealistic at times, but this really doesn’t make sense. At one point there was a Six Flags in Ohio, but it was sold off years ago. So if “Glee” is in present day (which we know it is), then a park with the Six Flags name is no longer present in the state.

**Over-analysis of a TV show? Maybe, but I really like analyzing things! :)
